History
We started this business as a way to connect people more directly to their food sources, selling beef and feeder steer from our commercial brafords and baldies, bred to Angus and Hereford bulls. While we still do that, over time, we came to really appreciate the efficiency and adaptability of the Hereford breed, and our focus and drive shifted toward cow/calf. We purchased a few registered pairs, and as the song goes, we “fooled around and fell in love.” Docility, versatility and lower cost of gain made our lives easier, and improved our bottom line. We develop our registered bulls, pairs, bred heifers, and F1 baldies so that our customers can also reap those benefits.
Our ranch is a truly family-oriented operation, as our kids have grown into young adults and each found their own ways to contribute. Our daughter Emily, a graduate of Tarleton State University-Animal Science- works in animal nutrition and heads up our feed program while assisting with sales and marketing. Our son Cole, attending West Texas A&M-Meat Science- helps us build our herd carcass merit, keeps us on par with the latest research, and puts in “sweat equity” during the summers here at the ranch working and hauling cattle, building fences, and dispatching predator issues. Our younger son Pike, also attending West Texas A&M- Industrial Tech-assists with forage management, welding, machine repairs, and working with his brother -doing the heavy lifting as needed.
Since 2016, we have enjoyed getting to know our discerning customers and building a relationship with them - we’d love to have the opportunity to get acquainted and earn your business. Thank you for visiting!
